COMING SOON. Love Circus.
An interactive installation and performance about LOVE in all its forms.
Love Circus will be an ambitious collaboration with performance, visual, sound artists and writers to create a Circus about love. It will feature five tents with immersive art work and engaging activities, as well as a live performance; Love_Dances.
Love Circus is a development of Love_Dances; a physical, vibrant and proud collection of personal stories told through dance and theatre by five local North East performers from diverse experiences.
Love Circus is interested in the necessity and intersectionality of love. It explores the highs and lows of finding, keeping and experiencing love, with a special focus on narratives that are less visible, particularly those from LGBTQIA+ experiences.
Love Circus hopes to tour to public and outdoor sites and events in 2024.
A big thanks to everyone who has worked hard on the project so far!!
Creative Team -
Alys North, Adam Russell, Peter Pearson, Sarah Golding, Ethan Briscoe, Cameron Sharp, Michaelwa Wate, Grace Stubbings, Luca Rutherford, Jennifer Essex, Aaron Bowman and Giulia Coti Zelati.
Thanks to Dance City Newcastle and the Discovery Museum, Centre for Excellence in Creative Arts Hartlepool, Base Camp Middlesbrough, Hartlepool Wintertide Festival, Adam Strickland, Stephen McGrother, Karen Ann Jones and T. Tranca.
Phase 1 was supported through a Dance City Soup bursary through the audience vote and a short film was created danced by Adam Russell and Alys North, working with film maker Giulia Coti Zelati.
Love_Dances was awarded a project grant from Arts Council England to support a Research and Development phase of the work.
